PT Instructor, Health and Public Safety Services Continuing Education

Part-time Instructor, Health, Wellness, and Public Safety Services positions are available to teach in Continuing Education programs for Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Paralegal, Health, and Wellness. Courses can be offered in the day, evening, and weekend hours, and distance learning opportunities (hybrid or online). This position reports directly to the Program Director or Coordinator specific to the program in Health, Wellness, and Public Safety.
Responsibilities:
Promotes College mission, values, and vision
Teaches assigned courses in classroom, lab and /or clinical settings to meet program needs including, but not limited to, day, evening, weekend, and distance learning courses
Evaluates student progress and provides appropriate feedback
Develops course syllabi and provides appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
Explore, assess, and implement appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning outcomes
Carries out a program of self-evaluation to determine instructional effectiveness
Participate in activities necessary to maintain program compliance with regulatory agencies
Assists in the evaluation of courses and programs
Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
Attends appropriate College and School meetings
Assists in student recruitment and retention
Maintains appropriate office hours and accessibility for students, faculty and staff
Participates in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
Qualifications Required:
Qualifications for teaching Continuing Education courses vary based on the subject being taught (Emergency Medical, Fire, Law Enforcement, Health and Wellness); in most cases, the minimum qualifications would consist of proven knowledge of the subject and the appropriate educational credential, if applicable; specific certifications required for specific courses.
Qualifications for teaching Criminal Justice curriculum courses require a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline from a federally accredited institution, or related field.

Qualifications Preferred:
Associate in Applied Science degree or Bachelor's degree in discipline related field from an accredited institution (may be required in some disciplines)

Summary:
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment in the collection, evaluation and analysis of data and student assessment, curriculum development, and program review; ease of mobility in supervising students in the lab/clinical and classroom settings, assisting with client care (as required by discipline), carrying equipment, supplies and other instructional materials; travel between campus and clinical locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
