Part-time Instructor, Continuing Education

Part-time instructor positions are available to teach Continuing Education courses offered at a variety of locations in Davidson and Davie Counties or online. Courses can be offered during the day, evening, or weekend hours. Instructors are needed to teach courses in a variety of subject areas. Individuals are encouraged to contact the College to express interest to teaching topics which may be needed or of interest to members of Davidson and Davie County communities. This position reports directly to a Coordinator or Program Director in the appropriate of School of Learning.
Responsibilities:
Promotes College mission, values, and vision
Teaches assigned courses to meet program needs including, but not limited to, day, evening, weekend, and distance courses
Evaluates student progress and provides appropriate feedback
Develops course syllabi and provides appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
Uses and promotes appropriate technology to enhance student learning outcomes
Carries out a program of self evaluation to determine instructional effectiveness
Assists in the evaluation of courses and programs
Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
Attends appropriate College and School meetings
Assists in student recruitment and retention
Maintains accessibility to students, faculty and staff
Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
Qualifications Required:
Qualifications for teaching Continuing Education courses vary based on the subject being taught. In most cases, the minimum qualifications would consist of proven knowledge of the subject and the appropriate educational credential, if applicable.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills and commitment to the use of technology in instruction
Ability to work effectively and collegially with others in a team environment
Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

Summary:
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment in the collection, evaluation and analysis of data and student assessment, curriculum development, and program review; ease of mobility in supervising students in the clinical and classroom settings, assisting with patient care, carrying equipment, supplies and other instructional materials; travel between campus and clinical locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
